When the CLC opened its doors in 1990, it had one therapist and served 20 children. Our center has grown to employ 4 therapists, serving over 90 children. This is still not enough. We have an ever-growing waiting list of children, all in need of our services.
When a family comes to our Center for help, they are dealing with the fact that their child, in one way or another, is not developing the same as a typical child. They are filled with questions and concerns for their child’s future. The last thing they should have to worry about is how they are going to pay for it. That is where we come in. We provide all of our services free of charge to any child in need of them. However, just because we provide the services for free does not mean that we do not require funds to run the Center.
That is where you come in. There are many ways that you can help. We are always accepting donations of time or money.
We are always in need of help. We attempt to keep our costs down by having a small help staff, so anyone interested in volunteering is welcome. From helping with special events or serving on one of our committees to answering the phones on our secretary's day off, there is something for everyone who wants to be a part of the Childhood Language Center. Please note that for the safety of our children at the CLC we do ask volunteers to provide a list of work and character references. Also, to ensure the confidentiality of our client's health care information, we ask you to abide by our HIPPA policies and procedures.
We always accept donations of any size. Even the smallest donation can help add to the services that we provide to these children and to the community.
For those interested in making larger donations, you may want to consider sponsoring a child for $2,500 a year, or sponsoring a clinician (helping to provide services to all the children seen by that therapist) for $60,000 a year.
The Scottish Rite also has a program that would allow you to name the Center as a recipient of a portion of your estate in your will.
